(LifeSiteNews) — A member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration said that the economies of his nation and Canada are not compatible in many respects, mainly due to the Canadian government’s push or “doubling down” on “globalization.”
Canada and the U.S. have been in trade disputes for some time, and the Canadians have promised to double non-U.S. exports over the next 10 years.
U.S. officials want the current Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) to include stronger language and rules so that most goods traded are from North America.
Regarding this main point of contention, Greer said that “if the Canadians don’t want to have the rule of origin, then we’ll have to have some other border control to make sure that we aren’t disadvantaged.”
The Carney government has yet to state when official talks about trade agreements will take place. Trump canceled talks last October after the Ontario government placed anti-tariff trade ads in the U.S.
Carney has globalist ties and was called the World Economic Forum’s “golden boy” by Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre. Carney has also admitted he is an “elitist” and a “globalist.”
The Liberal government under Carney has established cozy relations with China, which Carney recently visited and said the relationship between the two countries is more “predictable” than with the U.S. under Trump.
Carney also made a deal with China related to Canadian agricultural products such as canola while trying to get tariffs removed. In exchange, Canada agreed to drop massive tariffs on Chinese-made EVs and import thousands of the vehicles next year.
LifeSiteNews also reported on an exposé saying that Carney and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are influenced by an “elite network” of foreign actors, including those with ties to China and the World Economic Forum.
