A creamy and dreamy banana peach smoothie to start the day off right! This smoothie is naturally sweetened with fruit and a touch of juice. Add a scoop of Greek yogurt for some gut healthy protein, and this smoothie makes a refreshing quick snack or healthy breakfast on the go!
How to make a banana peach smoothie:
- 12-14 slices of frozen peaches (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 medium sized banana, ripe and broken into chunks
- 1/4 cup of peach nectar or fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt (I use 2%)
Combine all the ingredients into a blender. Blend until perfectly smooth and enjoy!
For best results, make sure the banana, yogurt, and juice are closer to the blender’s blade. This will help to blend the smoothie easier.
You can also thaw the peaches for 10 minutes before adding them to the blender.
To make this smoothie without yogurt:
This smoothie can be made with or without Greek yogurt! Simply swap out the yogurt in the recipe for almond or coconut milk–or even a plant based yogurt!
If you’d like to make this a protein smoothie, but don’t want to add the yogurt, blend in your favorite plant based protein powder.
When adding the protein powder, I recommend adding it to the blender when the smoothie is just about done blending. This will help the protein powder incorporate into the smoothie easily without clumping.
This is the protein I really like. It’s tasty, blends well, and has superfood powder added for extra nutrition.
Can I make this smoothie with fresh peaches?
Yes!
To make this smoothie with fresh fruit, you’ll need about two ripe peaches, peeled and sliced.
I also recommend adding some ice to the blender or using a frozen banana if using fresh peaches. This will help the smoothie stay nice and thick and creamy!
Is this peach banana smoothie healthy?
Yes! There are only a few ingredients in this smoothie, but each one provides a good source of vitamins, nutrients, and body benefits:
Peaches are a good source of vitamin C, as well as other small amounts of vitamins and minerals. Peaches are also loaded with antioxidants, which we all know our body loves!
And what does banana add to a smoothie? Bananas provide a great source of potassium, antioxidants, and fiber. These guys are great for digestion and happy tummies. They also help sweeten the smoothie and make it creamy.
Greek Yogurt not only helps give this smoothie a creamy texture, but when unsweetened, it provides a healthy addition of calcium and protein to the mix!
Lastly, this smoothie has no added or refined sugar in it–all the sweetness comes from the peach slices and the banana.
The splash of juice in this recipe is 100% fruit juice with no sugar added, but you can always use water if prefered!
Variations and Mix Ins:
If you’re looking to add a little extra somethin’ somethin’ to your smoothie, here are some great fruit, veggie, and other mix in combinations that will work really well with the peach and banana:
- Kale or fresh spinach
- Fresh or frozen blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries
- Pineapple, fresh or frozen
- Mandarin Oranges
- Chia seeds, flax seeds, or hemp seeds
- Almond butter
- Vanilla protein powder
- Add a touch of spice with a little cinnamon or cayenne pepper
- For extra sweetness, add a little honey or maple syrup
Tips for making the best banana peach smoothie
- When adding the ingredients to the blender, keep your non frozen ingredients closer to the blade–like the banana, yogurt and juice. I find that if the blade hits the easy stuff first, blending the rest of the smoothie goes a lot faster.
- To make blending even easier, you can thaw the peaches for 10-15 minutes before blending.
- If you only have frozen fruit on hand, use that! Just allow the fruit to thaw slightly before blending. This will prevent having to add more juice or water during the blending process
- For easy meal prep, you can combine the ingredients in the blender the night before and store in the fridge. The next morning blend up with a couple ice cubes for a fast and easy breakfast.
